Irina Gofman was appointed President and CEO of Viasat World in January 2016. Prior to this, Irina spent more than seven years working for MTG AB, International Media and Broadcasting Group, as Executive Vice President of the Group’s Russian & CIS broadcasting operations and Pay TV Emerging Markets from 2011 to 2015, and as CEO of MTG Russia & CIS between 2008 and 2011. Irina was CEO of Rambler Media Group, leading Russian internet media and services group, between 2004 and 2007, taking it public in 2005. Irina also worked for MTG between 2002 and 2004 as Chief Operating Officer of the DTV Russian TV network and was instrumental in the launch of Viasat Broadcasting’s wholesale Pay TV business in Russia. Irina has also held a number of executive and board positions within the broadcasting, digital and publishing industry which includes her current position on the board of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Irina is also a Founding Trustee of Reach for Change Russia. Irina graduated with a Ph.D. in Philology from Moscow State University and an MBA from Babson College in the United States.
Reuben Wheeler was appointed as the CFO of Viasat World in October 2015 following the sale of MTG’s emerging Pay TV markets division. He was Finance Director of Pay TV Emerging Markets at MTG AB between 2013 and 2015. Prior to joining MTG, Reuben worked in senior positions in some of Europe’s leading telecommunications/media companies. Reuben headed up Finance for the Digital Entertainment product of Virgin Media. Reuben received a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance and Commercial Law from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand and went on to gain his Chartered Accounting qualification through KPMG in 2001.
Karin Heijink was appointed Vice President of Channels and Products at Viasat World in 2015. Previously, she worked at MTG AB between 2011 and 2015 as Vice President of Pay TV Channels East. Prior to that she worked for MTV Networks International as Senior Director of Music Content in the Emerging Markets division; for the EDL Foundation as Business Development Director; for Discovery Networks Europe as Channel Director of Emerging Markets; for Endemol in the Netherlands as Marketing Manager; and for MBPA as Marketing and PR Manager. She graduated from the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University.
Alexey Kroll began his career at Viasat Broadcasting Ltd in London in January 2001 in the financial department. Since May 2003 he has been CEO of the Viasat group of companies in Russia and the CIS countries. In 2012, he oversaw the launch of Viasat Premium HD in Russia and the CIS. Alexey graduated in 1999 from DeSales University (USA), where he studied Management and Finance.
Emma Jones joined Viasat World in May 2016. Most recently she launched Lebara Play, an OTT and fully multi-screen platform focused on migrants in eight languages with more than 200 channels across Europe, Canada and Australia. Before that Emma spent five years with Virgin Media, first in Luxembourg where, in 2009, she became General Manager of Future Entertainment Sarl, a subsidiary of Virgin Media, taking responsibility for all premium channels, including Sky Sports, movies and international strategy. Emma became the Director of Content acquisition at Virgin Media in 2012. Emma graduated from Cardiff University and Law School in 1998.
An experienced media lawyer with a pragmatic, creative and highly commercial approach, Benjamin Groocock joined the Viasat World management team in April 2016 after more than eight years as in-house counsel for international media house MTG, where he most recently held the position of Head of Legal and Business Affairs. Benjamin obtained a law degree from Durham University.
